Two men were out hunting for deer during bow hunting season. They saw many deer signs and spent all morning tracking the elusive animals. Each man bagged a deer that day, but by the time the second man had trailed his to the place where it fell, it was quite late and the men realized they had no idea where they were, or which direction their truck was parked. Being well versed in the proper things to do when lost, they remembered hearing it was a good idea to fire three shots in the air as a distress signal. So one of the men fired three shots in the air in the hopes some other hunter would hear and come to their aid. After awhile they had seen no one and had not heard a response, so the man fired three more shots in the air. Again, there was no response. As he prepared to fire three more shots, his buddy said, "I really hope it works this time, 'cause we're down to our last three arrows".
